Benny Clyde

Gulfport Rehabilitation Center

Basketball has been a passion of Benny’s for his entire life. Benny grew up in St. Petersburg, which is where he played high school basketball. One scout referred to Benny as the most talented high school player he had ever seen. Benny Clyde played basketball for Florida State University in 1972 and 1973. He was drafted in 1974 in the 5th round for the Boston, Celtics. Having suffered a large stroke which left him paralyzed on his entire right side and having his right leg amputated above the knee, Benny lived in a nursing home in Georgia. He just moved this month to Gulfport rehab and is thrilled to be back in St. Pete!
